Perroni earns fifth straight hat trick.
MILWAULKEE, Wis. – Allegra Catalano scored a season-high four goals as the University of Louisville lacrosse team fell 15-11 on Sunday to Marquette at Valley Fields.
The loss dropped the Cardinals to 4-5 overall, while the Golden Eagles moved to 7-1 on the season.
"Today was a very physical game," said head coach Scott Teeter. "Marquette came to play and did not respond enough. We didn't make key plays when we're needed in the game."
Allegra Catalano put the Cards on the board to start the game scoring in the 12th minute. Marquette evened the score after a goal by Mary Schumar. Catalano earned her second goal on a free position attempt before the Golden Eagles scored two straight. Nicole Perroni tied the game 3-3 to end the second quarter scoring on a free position shot.
UofL pushed their lead to 6-3 with three straight goals from the Cardinals. Marquette scored two of their own before Perroni earned her 25th goal of the season and her fifth straight hat trick. The Golden Eagles scored again but the Cards entered the half up 7-6.
Catalano recorded her first hat trick of the season, scoring on an assist from Kokoro Nakazawa one minute into the second half. Four straight goals gave the Golden Eagles the 10-8 lead. A goal from Hannah Morris and another from Catalano tied the game but Marquette scored in the final minute to take the 11-10 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Golden Eagles scored the first two goals of the final quarter before Morris shot in another goal. Marquette scored twice more to win 15-11.
Sara Addeche recorded 12 saves with a .444 save percentage. Nakazawa finished with two assists.
Perroni has extended her goal-scoring streak and her point-scoring streak to 29. She added three ground balls, two draw controls, and two caused draw controls.
UofL finishes their toughest stretch of the season facing their third top five opponent in two weeks on Saturday as they host Syracuse at 12 p.m. ET.
