Louisville Dominates Second Half, Cruises to 15-6 Win over Vanderbilt

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville lacrosse got back in the win column with a resounding 15-6 win over Vanderbilt at UofL Lacrosse Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

"We played hard for 60 minutes today; we've been really searching for a 60 minute game in total effort," said head coach Scott Teeter. "There were a few lulls, but we had a response today which was outstanding."
With the win, Louisville improves to 6-7 on the year, while Vanderbilt moves to 7-5.

The Cardinals got off to a quick start as they outscored Vanderbilt 4-0 to start the game, with goals from Hannah Morris, Allegra Catalano, Haley Reeck and Paige Richbourg.

After Vandy scored twice at the end of the first quarter, Louisville responded with three straight goals to start the second, two from Morris and one from Caroline Blalock, to extend the lead to 7-2 with 12:29 to go in the second.

The Commodores then scored three of the last four goals in the first half and Louisville led 8-5 at the break.

Morris led the Cardinals with four goals on five shots, while adding an assist. Blalock, Catalano, Kylea Dobson and Kokoro Nakazawa all finished with two goals each. Blalock added four draw controls, three ground balls and an assist.

Sara Addeche and J Pleck combined to limit the Commodores to just six goals. Addeche had five saves and a .500 save percentage, while Pleck had two saves and a .667 save percentage. Â

The Louisville defense held Vanderbilt without a shot on goal in the third quarter and limited them to just three in the entire second half.

The Cardinals outshot the Commodores 28-20 and had 21 shots on goal to Vanderbilt's 13.

Louisville returns to Atlantic Coast Conference action when they travel to play at Pitt on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
