LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team fell 5-3 to Virginia in game two of an ACC series Saturday evening at Ulmer Stadium.

Â
Hannah File went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and Dylann Cravens went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored to help the Cardinals build a 3-1 lead after three innings, but Virginia scored four unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings to even the series at a game apiece.

The Cavaliers jumped to an early lead in the first inning, but the Cardinals quickly answered with a pair of runs in the second. File launched a one-out solo shot over the left field fence to tie the game at 1-1. Â Back-to-back doubles by Cravens and Ally Alexander put Louisville on top 2-1.
Â
The Cards extended their lead in the third when Korbe Otis singled and moved to third on Taylor Roby's base hit. Otis crossed the plate safely on a wild pitch to make the score 3-1.
Â
Virginia used three hits and a walk in the fifth to pull within a run and threatened to score more with the bases loaded and no outs in the inning, but Taylor Roby and the Cardinals' defense retired the next three batters to get out of the jam.
Â
The Cavaliers offense continued in the sixth, capitalized on three hits, including Katie Goldberg's two-run homer and a Louisville error to pull ahead 5-4.
Â
Louisville attempted to rally in the seventh when Otis reached on a fielder's choice, Roby was hit by a pitch and an error allowed Kendall Smith to reach, loading the bases with two outs, but Virginia reliever Mikayla Houge got a groundout to end the game and get the save.
