ATLANTA -- The University of Louisville men stand in seventh place after two events as the Division I Men's Championships kicked off this evening at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Texas leads the field with 74 followed by Florida (64), California (61), NC State (57), Stanford (54), Arizona (54), Louisville's (46), Georgia (34), Alabama (30) and Virginia Tech (28) rounding out the top ten.

In the 200 medley relay, the Cardinal foursome of Nicolas Albiero (20.59), Evgenii Somov (23.15), Dalton Lowe (19.85), and Michael Eastman (18.70) put up a 1:22.26 to finish seventh to earn All-American honors. Albiero's leadoff backstroke leg set a school recordin the 50 backstroke. The Cardinals' NCAA National Championship record of 1:22.11 from last year's race did not survive as the Florida Gators' foursome put up the winning time of 1:21.13.

The Cardinals put up the second fastest time in school history in the 800 free relay with an eighth place finish time of 6:10.59. Murilo Sartori was first in the water and split 1:32.80. Nicolas Albiero went 1:31.20 followed by Denis Loktev's 1:33.16 and Michael Eastman's anchor of 1:33.43. The event was won by Texas' 6:03.89.

Racing begins in earnest tomorrow at 10 a.m. during Thursday morning's prelims of the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 Free and 1M diving.
