Louisville's Offense Erupts 15-0 Win Over Western Illinois

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Carmyn Greenwood's grand slam keyed the University of Louisville softball team to a 15-0, five-inning win over Western Illinois Wednesday at Ulmer Stadium. The Cardinals extend their win streak to eight games, the last three of which were decided via the eight-run rule.

Greenwood finished the game with two hits and four RBIs with her second grand slam of the season. Freshman Korbe Otis also had two hits including a homer and fellow rookie Ally Alexander connected on her second home run of the season and scored three runs.

Louisville used four hits and three errors to take a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The offense continued with three more runs in the second behind Otis's leadoff home run and Maddi Grant's two-run single.

Alexander's two-run homer and Greenwood's grand slam added six more runs in the third to cap the scoring.

Taylor Roby (6-3) picked up the win in the circle, scattering two hits and striking out seven in 3.0 innings. Chardonnay Harris combined on the shutout after giving up one hit and fanning three in 2.0 innings of relief.

The Cardinals (16-8) will close out their three-week home stand this weekend and open ACC play when they welcome Georgia Tech to Ulmer Stadium for a three-game series starting on Friday.

- Louisville recorded a season-high six stolen bases in the game. Otis and Alexander had two apiece.
- The Cardinals have produced five grand slams this season – setting a new program record for grand slams in a single season. Greenwood has tallied two of them. Lacy Wood holds the record with four career grand slams.
- Kendall Smith is currently on an eight-game hitting streak
- Ally Alexander has reached safely via a hit or walk in the last seven games.
