Louisville Continues Homestand Tuesday Against Morehead State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team continues its extended homestand with a midweek contest against Morehead State on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium. The game will be televised on ACC Network Extra and radio coverage will be available on 970 WGTK.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville won two out of three against Dartmouth over the weekend, securing 19-5 and 16-3 victories on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Cardinals are currently 3-1 on their 18-game homestand.
The Cardinals had their bats working in the weekend series, plating 39 runs on 37 hits over the three games. The 39 runs are the most in a weekend for UofL since scoring 61 in a three-game sweep of Alabama A&M April 26-28, 2019.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville and Morehead State will meet for the 87th time on Tuesday evening with the Cardinals leading the series 50-36. The two programs have met in all but two years (1984 and 1998) dating back to 1972. Louisville had its 20-game winning streak in the series snapped last season, as the Eagles defeated UofL 5-2 on March 2.

- Louisville has an .841 winning percentage (116-22) in regular season non-conference games since the start of 2016, including a 93-10 (.903) mark in regular season non-conference home games.
- The Cardinals plated 39 runs in the weekend series against Dartmouth, their most in a single series since scoring 61 runs in a sweep of Alabama A&M April 26-28, 2019. The 19 runs scored in the series opener were the most since scoring 32 in the opening game of the Alabama A&M series.
- Louisville scored in all eight innings it went to the plate in the Friday game against Dartmouth, the first time the Cardinals have scored in every possible offensive inning during Dan McDonnell's tenure.
- The Cardinals tallied six triples in the series against Dartmouth, their most in a single weekend since at least 2000. Louisville had four individual games with three triples since 2000 entering the weekend before recording three on Friday and again on Sunday. UofL is currently eighth in the country with eight triples on the season.
PLAYER NOTES
- Christian Knapczyk has hit in the leadoff spot in all seven games this season after hitting ninth in 42 of his 43 starts in 2021. Knapczyk has been excellent to start the year hitting leadoff, reaching base in 19 of 34 plate appearances (.559 OBP). The sophomore has also reached base in the first inning in six of seven games.
- Cameron Masterman is off to a hot start for the second consecutive season. Masterman is hitting .370 with three home runs and seven RBIs while collecting at least one hit in all seven games. Masterman homered in each of Louisville's first three home games, the second consecutive year he has done so.
- Ben Bianco turned in a career day in the series finale against Dartmouth on Sunday, going 5-for-6 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and four runs scored. Bianco was the first Cardinal with five hits in a game since Alex Binelas did so against Alabama A&M on April 26, 2019. Bianco did not have a triple in his career prior to tallying one on Friday and Sunday.
- Ben Metzinger came up just a single shy of the cycle in Sunday's win over Dartmouth, going 3-for-5 with a double, triple, his second home run of the season and a career-best five RBIs. Metzinger has reached base in all seven games this season, tallying a hit in six.
- Michael Prosecky has taken over as the Louisville closer for the 2022 season after pitching in a variety of roles during his first two years. The southpaw recorded the final six outs in each of Louisville's first two victories, earning his first two career saves.
