No. 10 Cardinal Swimming and Diving Head to Rival Notre Dame
November 10, 2022 | Swimming & Diving
While the Louisville versus Notre Dame swimming and diving rivalry dates all the way back to the Big East Days, this year there is an added spice that should cook up to an even more heated rivalry.
The No. 10-ranked Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team  will take on Notre Dame at the Rolfs Aquatics Center for the Irish's home opener this Friday at 3 p.m. With UofL alum and former associate head coach Chris Lindauer and assistant coaches Kameron Chastain, Kelsi Dahlia and Trevor Carroll all being Cardinals Forever, the natural competition is ramped up even more.

The Cardinals have three meets under their belts. Louisville opened the season with a sweep of Xavier on Sept. 30. A select group then headed to Dallas for the SMU Classic in early October, competing against some of the nation's top programs like USC and Michigan with a unique format.
Then the Cardinal men fell to the No. 13 Tennessee on Oct. 20, while the women upset  the No. 7 Volunteers. In that highly competitive meet, the Cards were paced by four multiple event winners.  Gabi Albiero won four events with wins in both the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay as well as the 50-free and the 100-free. Tristen Ulett swept the butterfly events and added the 400 free relay too. Adam Sneden swept both boards winning the 1- and 3-meter springboard. Christiana Regenauer was a part of both relay wins.
Notre Dame began this season with wins over both Pittsburgh and Penn State in the Panthers' natatorium on Oct. 21-22. Seniors Jack Hoagland and Coleen Gillilan shined for the Irish, winning three and two individual events respectively.
