Cardinals Continue Play at Day 2 of Martha Thorn Invitational

UofL wraps up play on Sunday at 10 a.m.
MORGANTOWN, W.V. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team finished the second day of competition at the Martha Thorn Invitational hosted by West Virginia.Â

The Cardinals won 3-0 against Duquesne in doubles. The duo of Maria Campos and Rhea Verma won 6-3 at the No. 1 pair against Margo Pessy and Ellen Shanahan. At the No. 2 pair, seniors Andrea Di Palma and Cici Xin beat Jasa Roka and Anastasiia Kotsyuba 6-1. Sasha Gorchanyuk and Tyra Richardson won the No. 3 pair 6-1 against Daniela Latoni and Natasha Novak.Â

In singles, UofL tied 3-3 with West Virginia. In the No. 2 spot for singles, Rhea Verma took down Momoko Nagato 6-3, 6-2. Xin defeated Michaela Kucharova 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 12-10 at No. 3 singles. Richardson won at No. 6 singles beating Ellen Shanahan 6-3, 6-2.Â

The Cardinals will wrap up the Martha Thorn Invitational on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET. UofL is tentatively scheduled to play singles against JMU and Penn State.Â
