October 23, 2022 | Women's Soccer
DURHAM, N.C. — The University of Louisville women's soccer team dropped the top-10 matchup to #10 Duke, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.
The Blue Devils had the first opportunity of the game in the 12th minute when Kat Rader had a ball played to her on the left side of the box. She took a low, driven shot on goal but Erynn Floyd had the post covered and scooped up the save to end the chance for the Blue Devils.
Olivia Migli had a similar chance for Duke in the 32nd minute as she had a pass to her in the left side of the box. She got off a quick shot on goal but Floyd was there again to make the save, her third save in the first half.
Duke got on the scoreboard in the 41st minute as the team's leading goal scorer, Michelle Cooper, scored her 10th goal of the season. That was the only goal of the half and Duke took a 1-0 advantage into the half.
In the second half, Cooper scored her second of the match in the 50th minute and put the Blue Devils up 2-0. Duke added two more goals in the second half to put the game away.
Floyd tallied eight saves on the afternoon for the Cardinals, the most saves by a Louisville goalkeeper this season.
The Cardinals return to campus as they prepare for the regular season finale. Thursday night will be senior night from Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium as the six-member class will be honored prior to the game against the second-ranked Tar Heels. Thursday's match will start at 6 p.m. ET and will be aired nationally on the ACC Network.
