
Women’s Soccer Matches Program-Best Six Players on All-ACC Academic Team

Sarah Hernandez, Emma Hiscock, Gabby Kouzelos, Julia Simon, Delaney Snyder and Maisie Whitsett were named to the All-ACC Women's Soccer Academic Team.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that University of Louisville women's soccer's Sarah Hernandez, Emma Hiscock, Gabby Kouzelos, Julia Simon, Delaney Snyder and Maisie Whitsett were named to the All-ACC Women's Soccer Academic Team.
The six student-athletes match the most that Louisville has ever placed on the All-ACC Academic Team. They also placed six student-athletes on the academic team last season.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Hernandez was also named to the All-ACC Academic Team last season. She is studying criminal justice and finished with a 4.0 grade point average this fall and has a 3.958 cumulative GPA. She was named to the AD Honor, a Red and Black Scholar and to the Dean's List.
She started all 16 matches for the Cardinals at defender and in the 3-2 come-from-behind double overtime win at Miami, she scored on a penalty kick and recorded her first career assist on the equalizer.
Hiscock had a 3.377 GPA this semester and has a 3.615 GPA for her career while studying neuroscience. She has been named to the AD Honor Roll and a Red and Black Scholar-Athlete.
She played in 14 matches with three starts and opened the season with goals in each of the first three matches. She also recorded the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Wake Forest. She finished the season with four goals, one assist and nine points.
Kouzelos is named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the fourth time. She graduated Magna Cum Laude last spring with a B.S. in exercise science and a psychology minor. She has a 3.887 GPA for her career. She has been named a Dean's Scholar, AD Honor Roll, Red and Black Scholar-Athlete and CoSIDA Academic All-District.
She rewrote the record books during her six-year stint with the Cardinals, ranking first all-time in UofL program history with 7,667 minutes in goal. From 2019 to 2021, she had a stretch of 36 consecutive games where she played every minute.
Kouzelos recorded back-to-back shutouts this past season in wins over NKU and Saint Louis, the 27th and 28th of her career at Louisville, to extend her program record, and had two saves in the 3-0 win over NKU to become the fifth player in UofL history to eclipse 200 saves. She ranks fourth in UofL program history with 257 saves.
Simon is studying nursing and had a 3.538 GPA this past fall semester, while maintaining a 3.437 GPA for her career. She has been named to the Dean's List, a Red and Black Scholar-Athlete and to the AD Honor Roll.
The freshman saw action in all 16 matches with 11 starts and finished with four goals, three assists and 11 points. She scored two goals in her collegiate debut, a 6-2 over Western Michigan, to become the first UofL freshman with two goals in her debut since Maisie Whitsett in 2018.
Synder, now a three-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree, had a 3.869 GPA this past semester and a cumulative GPA of 3.686 while studying sport administration. She has been named to the AD Honor Roll, Dean's List and a Red and Black Scholar Athlete.
She played in 13 matches with 11 starts and finished the season with three goals, one assist and seven points. She scored goals in her first two matches played this season, including the game-winner in the 4-3 win over James Madison.
Whitsett is also a three-time member of the All-ACC Academic team. She had a 3.940 GPA this semester and a 3.651 cumulative GPA, while studying biology. She was named to the AD Honor Roll, Dean's List and a Red and Black Scholar-Athlete.
