LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Anna Stevenson had 11 kills, hit .529 and had four blocks to lead No. 12-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team to a 25-15, 25-12, 25-15 sweep of South Dakota in game two of the Cardinal Invitational on Saturday night.

Louisville hit .316 with 36 kills adding eight service aces, 11 blocks and 34 digs. Amaya Tillman had seven blocks with Aiko Jones contributing five. Elena Scott led the team with 13 digs and Tori Dilfer tallied 26 assists for the match. Tonight's sweep marks the Cardinals' fourth of the season in five matches.

South Dakota had six blocks, one ace and hit 0.049 with nine service errors. Elizabeth Juhnke led the Coyotes with 11 kills and Madison Jurgens contributed 18 assists. With the loss, the Yotes move to 0-2 to start the season.

The Cardinals found themselves on their heels early until back-to-back aces from Anna Stevenson gave the team a 12-7 lead and forced South Dakota to take a timeout. The Coyotes stayed in it, but a 4-0 run pushed the UofL lead to 17-11. Louisville kept up the intensity to win the first set 25-15.

Louisville controlled the set early, taking an 11-6 lead. The team put together three 3-0 runs, a 4-0 run and a 5-0 run to dominate the set, taking the 2-0 match lead with a 25-12 victory. The Cardinals hit a blistering .444 with 14 kills and had two aces in the second stanza.

Closely contested to start, UofL went on a 7-1 scoring run leading to a 10-4 lead and an early Coyote timeout. The Cardinals continued the onslaught through the timeout with a 4-0 run that included two aces from Aiko Jones to push the lead 14-4. Louisville would go on to win the final set 25-15.

In earlier action, Missouri defeated Northern Kentucky 3-0 in the first match of the day. UofL (5-0) will take on Northern Kentucky (2-2) in the final match of the Cardinal Invitational on Sunday, Sep. 5 at 1:00 p.m. ET at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.
