Louisville Sweeps Singles Matches on Final Day of Coach Dale Short Shootout

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team swept all four of its singles matches and registered a doubles win on the final day of the Coach Dale Short Shootout Sunday afternoon.

"This was a really solid weekend for us," said UofL assistant coach Mario Rincon. "All of our guys were able to play three singles matches and Matthew Fung and Alex Wesbrooks won all three of them. We had a lot of positives to take away from our first weekend. We will look at the film and prepare for the Ohio Valley Regionals."

All four Cardinals picked up singes wins against Lipscomb with junior Matthew Fung rallying from a 6-3 first set loss to beat Sam Fischer 6-2, 6-2 in the final two sets at No. 1. Senior David Mizrahi posted a 6-2, 6-0 win against Carlos Salas Tulla at the two-spot while senior Alex Wesbrooks and sophomore Kyle Tang each won by scores of 6-2, 6-3 at Nos. 3 and 4 respectively.

In doubles, Fung and Wesbrooks teamed for a 6-1 victory against Fischer and Alex Mesquida at No. 1.

Louisville will continue fall play next weekend when the Cardinals travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional Championships.
