Barna and Sartori Advance From Prelims at Tokyo Olympic Games

Three Cardinals were in the water competing in prelims this morning
TOKYO -- Two University of Louisville Cardinals will advance from the preliminaries in the Tokyo Olympic Swimming as Murilo Sartori and Andrej Barna both earned second swims in their events.

Incoming freshman Murilo Sartori advanced to the finals of the 4x200 Free Relay, splitting 1:46.70 as Brazil puts up a 7:07.73 as a team. Great Britain put up the fastest time with a 7:03.25 posted by Matthew Richards, James Guy, Calum Jarvis and Tom Dean.

Andrej Barna moves to the semifinals of the 100M Freestyle, after putting up a time of 48.30 to finish fifth in his heat and qualifying 13th for Serbia. Italy's Thomas Ceccon edged defending world champion Caeleb Dressel with to post a time of 47.71, to earn the top seed.

Marcelo Acosta swam an 8:03.01 in the 800M Freestyle in his heat for El Salvador but will not advance. The top qualifier for tonight's final was Ukrainian Mykhailo Romanchuk, who posted a time of 7:41.28 and set the Ukraine national record.
