LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's golfer Lauren Hartlage has been named a second team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) as announced by the WGCA Friday afternoon.
Â
Hartlage becomes just the second golfer in program history to earn second All-American honors by the association, joining Cindy LaCrosse as the other player to earn to honor, being named a second team All-American in 2009. It's the fourth All-American honor for Hartlage, who was named a WGCA honorable mention last year and Golfweek Honorable Mention selection in 2018 and 2019.
Despite a shortened season due to the worldwide pandemic, the Elizabethtown, Kentucky native, was still playing at a high level. Hartlage finished 12th at the NCAA Championship last week in Scottsdale, Ariz. It was the sixth-best finish for a UofL individual at the NCAA Championship in school history.
Â
The senior set a UofL career record with a 72.53 stroke average in 138 rounds. She is the first Louisville golfer to average below par for a season. Hartlage finished in the top-10 in four of the six tournaments in which UofL competed.
Â
A fifth-year senior, Hartlage was named to the All-ACC team for the fourth time with the Cardinals, making her the fourth player in program history to earn all-conference honors at least four times during a career. Hartlage joins Cindy LaCrosse (2006-09), Sara-Maude Juneau (2008-11), Laura Anderson (2008-11) as the only players in school history to earn all-league honors at least four times during their careers.
Hartlage finished the 2021 season with a 72.05 stroke average in 22 rounds this season, which ranked seventh in the ACC this season. She has finished in the top 10 in three of the seven tournaments this spring and holds the school record with 23 top-10 endings in her career.
Â
Hartlage closed the regular season by tying for sixth place at the ACC Women's Golf Championships, shooting a 1-under-par 215, which tied for the best score in school history in that event. Olivia Cason shot a 1-under-par 215 during the 2017 championship.
Â
Earlier this season, Hartlage was selected to play in the 2021 Augusta National Women's Amateur.Â
