LOUISVILLE– After claiming a fourth-place finish at the Louisville Regional last week, University of Louisville senior Lauren Hartlage heads to the 2021 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, played May 21-26 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Hartlage tees off at the par-72, 6,500-yard course on Friday at 8:13 a.m. MT on hole No 1.
"This week is a great opportunity for Lauren," said UofL head coach Whitney Young. "She's had a great senior season and deserves to be here competing at this event. We are excited for her to go out on the biggest stage and showcase her abilities."
Hartlage qualified for the championship as one of three individuals from non-advancing teams at the Louisville Regional.
The native of Elizabethtown, Ky., was the first UofL player to qualify as an individual since Olivia Cason advanced in 2016. Her fourth-place finish was the second-best ending in school history during an NCAA event.
Over the three days during regional play, Hartlage shot a 2-under-par for tournament, firing a 69-72-73=214 – the fourth-best 54-hole finish in an NCAA match during the school's history.
Entering the day in fourth place and holding a four-shot lead over the seventh-place team, the Cardinals shot 14-over-par to end their 2021 spring season at the par 72, 6,289-yard course.
Friday is the first of three guaranteed rounds. Should Hartlage make the cut after 54 holes (top nine individuals not on an advancing team), she will compete in a final round of stroke play televised by Golf Channel on Monday.
