Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET Friday at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer team closes out the regular season with No. 1 Clemson on Friday night. Kickoff from Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on ACC Network Extra.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville earned its way back into the win column last Friday with a 2-1 victory over Virginia. Aboubacar Camara netted the first goal of the match before Eric Danquah outran the Cavaliers' back four for his first career goal to extend the lead. Virgnia responded late on a converted penalty kick, but it was not enough as the two freshman secured the 2-1 win.
Pedro Fonesca and Aboubacar Camara are tied for the team-lead with 11 points. Fonseca has contributed four goals and three assists, while Camara has recorded a team-high five goals and an assist. Elijah Amo ranks second on the team with three goals and three assists for nine points.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville trails the all-time series against Clemson 2-4-1, with all seven matches coming since the Cardinals became an ACC member. Louisville is 1-1-1 at home in the series. The teams last faced off inside Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Oct. 20, 2018, when Elijah Amo netted the game-winning goal 20 seconds into the second overtime period.
CAMARA PROVING TO BE SCORING THREAT
Freshman Aboubacar Camara recorded a goal and an assist in six matches during the fall. However, he has been the top scoring threat for the Cardinals during the spring season.
Camara recorded the opening goal at NC State, the second tally in the win over Syracuse, the first goal at Wake Forest, and netted the early lead vs. Virginia. Three out of his four goals this spring have come off assists from senior Elijah Amo.
CARDINALS LIGHT UP THE SCOREBOARD TO OPEN SPRING
In the midst of the recent two-match winning streak to start the spring, Louisville found the back of the net six times compared to the 10 total goals scored in the fall. The last time the program scored six goals over a two-game stretch was back-to-back 3-0 victories over in-state rival Kentucky and Florida Atlantic in the opening weeks of the 2019 season. Louisville remains undefeated (4-0-1) this season when scoring two or more goals.
