Cardinal Men Wrap Up Day One of NCAA Championships

Louisville earns All-American relay honors on day one.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of Louisville kicked off the 2021 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, March 24 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
The Cardinals competed in the 800 freestyle relay, the only event on the opening day of the championship meet. Nicolas Albiero (1:32.31), Colton Paulson (1:32.77), Michael Eastman (1:33.71), and Kyle Worrell (1:34.93) combined in 6:13.72, dominating their heat and besting their time from the ACC Championships by nearly three seconds.
Louisville finished eighth overall, earning All-American honors and posting the seventh-fastest time in school history. Albiero's leadoff split of 1:32.31 tied his own personal record, which ranks No. 3 in program history.

Tomorrow will feature the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, and 1-meter diving as well as the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with finals starting at 6 p.m.
