Tennis Returns Home to Host NC State and Wake Forest

Cards end long road stretch to return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center
Louisville, Ky. – After splitting a pair of matches last week on the road, the University of Louisville women's tennis team will return home to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center to face No. 10 NC State Friday and No. 27 Wake Forest Sunday. Both matches will begin at noon.
The Cardinals (6-5, 3-3 ACC) are looking to bounce back after they fell to No. 15 Virginia 6-1 last weekend in Charlottesville, Va. The Cardinals were able to take down Virginia Tech 5-2 last weekend helped, in part, by continued stellar doubles play. The Cards won their 8th doubles point of the year against the Hokies and then added four singles win. Rhea Verma was named as the the UTR/ITA Player of the Week. She went undefeated in both matches, including No. 14 Virginia.Â
No. 10 NC State enters Friday's match-up 7-3 after falling to No. 13 Georgia Tech 4-3 last weekend. The Wolfpack is led by the double's duo of Anna Rogers and Alana Smith, who are currently ranked No. 2 in the latest ITA rankings. Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami are currently ranked No. 16 in doubles as well. In singles, the Wolfpack has four ranked players: No. 23 Alana Smith, No. 35 Anna Rogers, No. 38 Adriana Reami, and No. 112 Sada Nahimana. The head coach of NC State is Simon Earnshaw.
No. 27 Wake Forest is currently on a two-match winning streak after sweeping No. 13 Georgia Tech 7-0 and defeating Clemson 6-1 last weekend. In singles, Anna Brylin is leading the Demon Deacons with a 6-2 overall record in dual match play. Wake Forest has two ranked players in the latest ITA singles rankings with No. 21 Carolyn Campana and No. 98 Eliza Omirou. Campana sits with a 2-1 record at the teams one spot and Omirou 3-1 playing on multiple courts this season. In doubles, the team holds a 14-9 overall record and is led by the duo of Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth, who are 6-2 so far this season. The head coach of Wake Forest is Jeff Wyshner.
Next week the Cardinals will go back on the road to face No. 7 Florida State Friday, March 19 at noon and No. 34 Miami Sunday, March 21 at noon.
