LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team defeated the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 6-1 in the match Monday afternoon at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals (2-0) took the doubles point, winning all three courts. UofL's Germany Davis and Rebekkah Gaines defeated Ariadna Fernandez and Virginia Madueno first 6-1 at the No. 3 slot. At the No. 1 slot, Alice Otis and Lika Persypkina battled WKU's Emily Schut and Andra Sirbu with a 6-4 win to clinch the point. Berta Miret and Elena Noguero then rolled 6-3 at the No. 2 slot with a win over Isabelle Einess and Barbara Olvera.

Elena Noguero was the first to win with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Andra Sirbu at No. 2. Berta Miret came second with a win in singles 6-0, 6-2 against Barbara Olvera at No. 4. Germany Davis clinched the Cardinals victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Emily Schut at No. 3. The Cardinals also got wins from Lucia Gallegos at No. 6, Alice Otis at No. 1. The Hilltoppers scored their only point in a three set matchup and drop to 0-3 on the season.

The Cardinals are back in action on Friday, when they host Northern Kentucky at 3 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
