LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team defeated the Northern Kentucky Norse 7-0 in the match Friday afternoon at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cardinals (3-0) took the doubles point, winning all three courts. UofL's Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos defeated Caroline Van Der Riet and Cassia Adamowsky first 6-1 at the No. 3 slot. Berta Miret and Elena Noguero then rolled 6-2 at the No. 2 slot with a win over Aaditi Bhat and Catharina Cardoso to clinch the doubles point. At the No. 1 slot, Alice Otis and Lika Persypkina battled NKU's Alyssa Cameron and Sydney Zakic with a 6-2 win.
In singles, Alice Otis was the first to win with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Darya Gneidina at No. 1. Berta Miret came second with a 6-0. 6-0 win in singles against Haley Slay at No. 5. Lika Persypkina clinched the Cardinals victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Aaditi Bhat at No. 4. The Cardinals also got wins from Anshika Jaswal at No. 6, Elena Noguero at No. 2, and Germany Davis at No. 3.
The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday, when they host Eastern Kentucky at 11 a.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
