Cards drop match to Wolfpack 5-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 5-2 to the 10th-ranked NC State women's tennis team Friday afternoon at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center.

Louisville (6-6, 3-4 ACC) took its first home loss of the season and NC State (8-3, 3-2 ACC) started its weekend of road action with a Friday win.

The Wolfpack took the doubles point as the No. 2-ranked pair of Anna Rogers and Alana Smith downed UofL's Rhea Verma and Andrea DiPalma 602. NC State clinched the point when Amelia Rajecki and Abigail Rencheli downed Chelsea Sawyer and Dina Chaika 6-1.

In singles, the Cards won at the No. 3 spot when Raven Neely upset No. 38-ranked Adriana Reami 6-4, 7-5. Chelsea Sawyer picked up the other point, battling Jaeda Reami to a three-set win. But NC State took wins at the No. 1, 2, 5 and 6 spots for the win.

UofL hosts Wake Forest on March 14 at noon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
