
No. 1 Louisville Set to Face #8 Georgia Tech In Elite Eight

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 1 University of Louisville volleyball team hosts its final NCAA Tournament match this postseason as it faces off against ACC foe No. 8 seed Georgia Tech on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall.

The No. 1 seeded Cardinals move on to their second Elite Eight appearance in program history after defeating the No. 16 seeded Florida Gators in straight sets on Thursday afternoon. The matchup against Georgia Tech marks the first ACC match for the Cards in an NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

Louisville vs. Georgia Tech
Louisville and Georgia Tech have played against each other twice this season already, with the Cardinals winning both matches 3-0. The Yellow Jackets are 26-5 overall and 14-4 in the ACC this season. Led by head coach Michelle Collier in her eighth season, the Yellow Jackets advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round for the first time since 2004 last season and earned the programs first tournament win in 17 years. This year, Georgia Tech advances to the Elite Eight for first time since 2003 and the second time in program history after sweeping its first three opponents in the Tournament. The Yellow Jackets are led by ACC Player of the Year Julia Bergmann who has a team-high 493 kills and 35 aces and is hitting .298 with 272 digs and 63 blocks.

The No. 1 ranked Cardinals continue their historical season as they enter the Elite Eight off their third straight sweep in the NCAA Tournament. Louisville's nine consecutive set wins with no losses is the longest set winning streak in a Tournament run in program history. UofL has earned a 31-0, 18-0 ACC record this season, racking up 23 sweeps in the process, making them just one sweep away from tying the program record of 24 sweeps in a season set in 1995.
