UofL is 1-0 after one week of competition
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team will play host to the Miami University Redhawks at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Â
"Miami is another MAC team after we played Ball State last week. We will just take one match at a time, like the cliché says," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "I am not worried about who we play I am concerned about how we play. We will be ready and it will be a hard-fought match."
Â
About the Cards
The University of Louisville women's tennis team took the doubles points and then swept all six positions in singles to open their season with a 7-0 sweep of visiting Ball State last Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Â
"They didn't give me much to complain about. It is a really good start, said Beckham. "Ball State is always full of fight. They are competitive and loud and bring an element of competitiveness to the match. I feel we matched that energy and played good tennis. Generally, in the first match of the season, they give me more things we need to address and clean up. They did not have that problem today. I was excited and happy about the way we played today."
Â
About the Redhawks
The Miami University women's team dropped a 7-0 decision on Tuesday afternoon at Kentucky to move to 1-1 on the season. The Redhawks downed Youngstown State by a score of 5-2 to open its 2020-21 campaign. Junior Brindtha Ramasamyr was named MAC Singles Player of the Week after capturing a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles over Youngstown State. Ramasamy teamed up with Laura Rico at No. 1 doubles in a 6-4 win as well. The duo was named MAC Doubles Team of the Week for their efforts.
