Binelas, Davis and Usher garnered preseason laurels.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The preseason recognition continues for the University of Louisville baseball program, as the Cardinals had three student-athletes named to the D1Baseball preseason All-America teams announced on Monday.
Henry Davis was selected at catcher on the first team, while Alex Binelas and Levi Usher were picked on the second team at third base and outfield, respectively. All three players previously garnered preseason All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game.
The Cardinals were tied with Florida and UCLA for the most representatives across the three All-America teams.
Davis started 13 of the Cardinals' 17 games during the shortened 2020 season, hitting .372 with eight extra-base hits and 13 RBIs. Davis had a breakout sophomore campaign, leading the team in OPS and his eight extra-base hits matched his total from his freshman season.
Binelas returns to the fold in 2021 after missing the majority of the 2020 campaign due to injury. As a freshman in 2019, Binelas hit .291 with 14 home runs and 59 driven in to earn freshman All-America honors.
Usher started his Louisville career with a bang last spring after joining the Cardinals from Kirkwood Community College, leading all qualified UofL hitters with a .411 batting average and tying for the team lead with 11 stolen bases.
Louisville is scheduled to start the season on Feb. 19 with a three-game series against Bellarmine at Jim Patterson Stadium.
