Ekic Named Top 10 Midfielder by Top Drawer Soccer
August 20, 2020 | Women's Soccer
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's soccer midfielder Emina Ekic has been named a Top 10 Division I Midfielder by Top Drawer Soccer.
She is one of five midfielders from the Atlantic Coast Conference named to the list, joined by Florida States's Jaelin Howell and Yujie Zhao, North Carolina's Brianna Pinto and Virginia's Taryn Torres.
"One of the best midfielders in the ACC and all of college soccer, Ekic goes overlooked at times for players at more prominent programs. But her ability to unlock a defense is matched by few, and she's a good passer that can create chances. She scored eight and setup eight more last fall (three of her goals coming from the penalty spot) and will eye up finishing with 10 goals and assists should a season go forward." - Top Drawer Soccer
The senior from Louisville, Ky., was named All-ACC first team the last two seasons. She started all 20 matches a year ago and led the team with eight goals and eight assists. She recorded five game-winning goals, which ranked first on the team, third in the ACC, and 27th in the nation.
