Snider’s Dodgers Even Pizza Bowl Series at One

The Dodgers picked up a 5-2 victory in game two on Friday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Behind a strong effort on the mound, Snider's Dodgers picked up a 5-2 victory in game two of the 15th annual University of Louisville baseball Pizza Bowl series Friday night at Jim Patterson Stadium.
The series is now even at one apiece with game three set for Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. ET. The game can be heard on 93.9 the Ville.
Glenn Albanese dominated on the mound on Friday to lead the Dodgers, allowing just two baserunners over five scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Kellan Tulio followed with 1.1 innings and Carter Lohman tossed the final 2.2 to close it out.
Scoreless heading into the sixth, the Dodgers struck first with Jack Payton doubling and Levi Usher drove him home with a single.
Vrable's Braves answered back in the top of the seventh, as Dalton Rushing changed the game with one swing. Rushing drove a two-run homer inside the right field foul pole to flip the game in the Braves favor.
However, the lead was short-lived as the Dodgers responded with two of their own in the bottom half. With two outs, Henry Davis drove home Logan Beard and Trey Leonard with a double into the gap.
The Dodgers tacked on two more in the eighth on a Beard RBI single and ensuing defensive miscue.
Beard led all hitters with three knocks on the night, while Payton and Usher had two hits apiece.
Adam Elliott started for the Braves on Friday, tossing four scoreless innings with just three hits allowed.

One of the most effective ways McDonnell and his coaching staff can provide the Louisville players with those competitive, game-like situations is through the annual Pizza Bowl series. Following approximately six weeks of fall practice sessions, the Cardinals take to the field for what started as a one-game scrimmage in the fall of 2006 and has become an ultra-competitive three-game or five-game intra-squad series. The Pizza Bowl series has become an exciting and highly anticipated ending to the fall for Louisville coaches, players and fans.
