Louisville will send 11 swimmers to the four day meet.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Just weeks after posting a pair of top-five finishes at the NCAA Championships, the University of Louisville men's and women's swimming team is set to dive back into competition at the TYR Pro Swim Series at Richmond. The Cardinals will send 11 swimmers to the meet, which will be held at the Collegiate School Aquatics Center in Richmond, Va. from April 10-13.
This week's competition in Richmond is the third of five stops on the TYR Pro Swim Series and will feature a star-studded field of national and international competitors. Prelims are slated to begin at 9 a.m. ET Thursday through Saturday with finals beginning at 6 p.m. ET. Wednesday's timed finals of the 800 free will commence at 6 p.m. ET. The meet will be conducted in long course meters with the top-32 swimmers from preliminaries advancing to finals in each event.
Among the notable names expected to compete at the meet are United States Olympians Caeleb Dressel, Jack Conger, Hali Flickinger, Molly Hannis, Kevin Cordes, Matt Grevers, Olivia Smoliga, Chase Kalisz, Cody Miller, Jacob Pebley and Louisville's own Olympic gold medalist Kelsi Dahlia.
Last time out, the Louisville women earned the program its first ever team trophy with a historic fourth place finish at the NCAA Championships. In total, the Cardinals had five individuals earn All-American honors in a combined eight events. Louisville also earned All-American status in all five relays for the second consecutive season. Senior Mallory Comerford captured NCAA titles in both the 100 and 200 free, extending the Cards' streak to eight straight seasons with an NCAA champion.
On the men's side, the Cards recorded their highest finish in program history with a fifth place showing, improving on the previous-best ninth place finish. The Cardinals also tallied 212 total points, surpassing their top mark of 164.5 points in 2016. With the top-five finish, Louisville became the only ACC program in history to have both its men's and women's team finish in the top-five at NCAAs in a single season.
