Marcelo Acosta collected his third podium finish of the weekend in the 1500 LCM free.
RICHMOND, Va. – Marcelo Acosta's second place finish in the 1500 LCM freestyle highlighted the University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team's final day of competition at the TYR Pro Swim Series at Richmond on Saturday evening.
In the opening event of the evening, Acosta earned his third podium finish of the weekend in the timed finals of the mile, securing second with a time of 15:20.20.
Daniel Sos then added a seventh place finish in the 200 LCM IM, dropping time from his prelims swim and posting a 2:03.48.
Nikos Sofianidis also competed in the A final of the 200 LCM back, eclipsing his time from the preliminaries by over a second to take fifth overall with a 2:02.62.
In the women's 100 LCM free, Alena Kraus was the Cards' sole competitor, posting a final time of 57.82.
Four Cardinals competed in the men's 100 LCM free, highlighted by a sixth place finish from Andrej Barna in a time of 49.75. Bartosz Piszczorowicz followed just behind in seventh with a 50.08 after winning a swim-off for the A final in a time of 49.79.
Also competing for Louisville in the 100 LCM free were Mihalis Deliyiannis and Santiago Aguilera. Deliyiannis won his heat, registering a time of 51.00, while Aguilera finished with a 51.71.
Up next, the Cards will return to the Ralph Wright Natatorium to prepare for various national and international meets this summer, including the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.
