Cardinals Fourth Through Stroke Play at Liz Murphey Collegiate

Louisville will go head-to-head against Arkansas in the first round of match play on Friday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In its final tournament before next week's ACC Championship, the Louisville women's golf team finished fourth Thursday in the stroke play portion of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The three-day event is being played at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
The Cardinals posted a team score of 9-over par 297 to finish tied with sixth-ranked Arkansas in fourth. Augusta and Kennesaw State tied atop the leaderboard with rounds of 2-over 290. No. 12 South Carolina is in third, two shots ahead of the Cardinals.
The top eight teams from Thursday's round move into the Red Bracket of match play, where they will compete for the tournament championship. Louisville will be the five seed and take on Arkansas on Friday morning. The Cardinals will play two matches on Friday regardless of the outcome of their first match.
Delaney Shah led the way on Thursday for Louisville, carding a birdie on the final hole to shoot an even par round of 72 on the day. Shah birdied four holes on the round and was sixth place overall.
Lauren Hartlage was one shot behind her teammate after shooting 73 in the first round. The junior turned in three birdies for her round.
Mairead Martin and Margot Bechadergue each shot 76 to finish at 4-over. Martin posted her only birdie of the round on the 18th hole, while Bechadergue was 2-under over the final 10 holes to bounce back from a tough start.
Olivia Cason turned in the drop score on Thursday, shooting 9-over 81.
The Cardinals and Razorbacks will begin teeing off at 8:02 a.m., ET on the 10th tee Friday.
