Cardinals Secure Podium Finishes at TYR Pro Swim Series at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – Podium finishes by Kelsi Dahlia and Zach Harting highlighted the University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team's second day of competition at the TYR Pro Swim Series at Richmond on Thursday evening at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center.
In the first event of the evening, freshman Alena Kraus dropped nearly two seconds from her prelims swim to finish fourth in the B final of the 200 LCM free in personal best time of 2:02.28.
Harting was the Cards' top finisher in the men's 200 LCM free, taking fifth overall with a time of 1:49.94. Marcelo Acosta ran down Olympic gold medalist Ryan Murphy over the final 10-meters of the race to win the B final in a time of 1:50.58. Bartosz Piszczorowicz finished 11th overall, stopping the clock in a 1:51.13. Also competing for the Cards was Santiago Aguilera, who recorded a time of 1:53.70.
In the men's 50 LCM back, Nikos Sofianidis dropped time from his prelims swim to finish sixth in the A final with a time of 25.56.
Dahlia won the A final of the 100 LCM fly, registering the top time by nearly a second with a 57.99. Kraus posted another drop from her morning swim, racing to a time of 1:01.28 in the 100 fly to finish fifth in the B final.
In his second A final of the evening, Harting finished in a tie for third in the 100 LCM fly with a time of 52.87. Mihalis Deliyiannis touched sixth in the B final of the event, finishing with a time of 55.13.
Rounding out the Cards' evening at the TYR Pro Swim Series was Daniel Sos, who posted a dominant performance in the B final of the 400 LCM IM, dropping over nine seconds from his prelims swim and winning the heat by seven seconds with a time of 4:24.52. Sos' performance was also the third-fastest time overall.
The Cardinals will be back in action at the TYR Pro Swim Series at Richmond tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. for the prelims of the 200 fly, 50 free, 100 back, 200 breast, 50 fly and 400 free.
