
Louisville Plays at Butler on Wednesday

The Cardinals and Bulldogs will begin play at 1 p.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After opening Atlantic Coast Conference play last Saturday, Louisville women's lacrosse returns to non-conference action when it plays at Butler on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Despite not recording a goal for the second time this season at Notre Dame, Louisville is led by senior Tessa Chad's 12 goals. She also has a team-high three hat tricks on the season.

Sophomore Shayla Scanlan ranks second on the team with 11 goals, and nine of her goals have come in the last three games.

Sophomore Caroline Blalock leads the team with 15 points, six assists and 13 ground balls, and ranks third with nine goals.

The Cardinals are 1-0 when scoring first this season and 0-5 when the opponent scores first.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Butler (2-3) is off to its best start since the program was introduced in 2017. The Bulldogs defeated Kent State 13-10, and most recently earned a 10-8 victory over St. Bonaventure.

Butler has averaged 10 goals per game through five contests and is led by sophomore attacker Ashley Guerra with 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points. Fellow sophomore Karina Latsko is also having a strong season for the Bulldogs with 12 goals and three assists. Senior defender Carly Hewitt boasts team-highs in both ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (11).

In goal, Amanda Rumsey has collected 43 saves with a save percentage of .422. In the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll, Butler was tabbed at No. 6.

Series History - UofL leads Butler 1-0 in the all-time series. The only time the two squads played, Louisville downed Butler 20-4 in Indianapolis, Ind. on Feb. 22, 2018.

Last season against Butler, the Cardinals opened up a 6-0 lead in the early minutes of the first half and entered the locker room with a 10-4 advantage at halftime. In the second half, Louisville clamped down on Butler defensively and did not allow a single goal for the final 30 minutes of the game. Alex McNicholas led the way for the Cardinals with four goals, two assists, four draw controls and four ground balls. McNicholas, Blalock and Chad all finished with hat tricks.
