Louisville Women’s Golf Finishes 14th at Evans Derby Experience

The Cardinals turned in a round of 304 on Monday to wrap up the three-day tournament.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville women's golf team finished in 14th place as the Evans Derby Experience wrapped up on Monday. The three-day event was played at Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Ala.
Louisville turned in a final round of 16-over par 304 to finish with a 54-hole team score of 912.
No. 11 Florida State (870) took home the team title four shots ahead of No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Duke and No. 8 Arkansas, which all tied for second. Seventh-ranked Florida (880) rounded out the top five.
The loaded field featured five of the top nine teams in the latest Golfstat rankings, and nine teams ranked inside the top 20.
Margot Bechadergue tallied the best finish of her sophomore season with the Cardinals, shooting a final round of 2-over 74 to tie for 12th place overall. Her three-round total of 219 (3-over) was the best of her career as well.
Lauren Hartlage added her sixth top-20 finish in eight events this season, tying for 19th place at 4-over par. During her three-year career, Hartlage has finished inside the top 20 in 24 tournaments.
Lauren Thibodeau carded four birdies on Monday on her way to a round of 3-over 75. The freshman tied for 56th at 14-over par overall. Mairead Martin was one shot behind Thibodeau on the day and for the tournament, tying for 60th. Martin had one of just six eagles in the tournament, making three on the par 5 eighth on Monday.
Olivia Cason made birdie on three consecutive holes midway through her final round on Monday to shoot 80 for the day and tie for 67th overall. Linda Trockel shot 86 over the final 18 holes and finished in 84th.
Louisville has one tournament remaining on its schedule before the ACC Championship. The Cardinals will head to Athens, Ga. For the Liz Murphey Collegiate April 11-13 at the University of Georgia Course.
