Louisville Women’s Golf 11th After Day One in Dominican Republic

The Cardinals will wrap up the tournament with the final round on Saturday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville women's golf team sits in 11th place after the first 36 holes at the Tar Heel Classic. The tournament is being played at the Teeth of the Dog Course at the Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in La Romana, Dominican Republic.
Louisville turned in rounds of 9-over par 297 and 12-over 300 on Friday and is 21-over with a two-round total of 597.
Wake Forest (567) holds a four-shot lead through 36 holes over Virginia (571). Tournament host North Carolina (576) is in third with Ohio State (580) and Ole Miss (582) rounding out the top five.
Lauren Hartlage was the low Cardinal on the course on Friday. The junior birdied her first hole of the day as part of a round of 2-over 74 and backed it up by shooting 73 in the second round. Hartlage is tied for 25th overall at 3-over.
Mairead Martin posted the lowest opening round for the Cardinals with a pair of birdies in a 1-over round of 73. She followed it up with 76 in round two and is tied for 34th heading into Saturday. Linda Trockel is one shot behind Martin after rounds of 76 and 74 on Friday. Trockel carded five birdies on the day and is in a tie for 37th.
Olivia Cason parred 27 of her 36 holes through the first two rounds and is tied for 41st at 7-over heading into the final round. Lauren Thibodeau is 13-over after 36 holes and tied for 65th.
The tournament wraps up with the final 18 holes on Saturday. Louisville gets rolling with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
