Louisville Women’s Golf Takes 11th at Tar Heel Classic

Lauren Hartlage led the Cardinals with her fifth top-20 finish of the year.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville women's golf team finished in 11th place after wrapping up play Saturday at the Tar Heel Classic. The two-day event was played on the Teeth of the Dog course at the Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in La Romana, Dominican Republic.
The Cardinals carded a team score of 14-over 302 in the final round to finish the tournament with a three-round total of 899.
Wake Forest (841) ran away with the team title, shooting 14-under par on Saturday and winning by 19 strokes. Virginia (860) was a distant runner-up with Ohio State (867) taking third. North Carolina (870) and Ole Miss (873) rounded out the top five.
Lauren Thibodeau turned in the lowest round of the day on Saturday, parring 17 of the 18 holes on her way to a 1-over 73. The freshman finished tied for 57th overall at 14-over.
Lauren Hartlage tallied her fifth top-20 finish of the season, tying for 20th individually at 5-over par. Hartlage shot 74 in the final round to close out the tournament 5-over.
Mairead Martin posted a 4-over 76 to finish nine above par and tied for 39th, while Linda Trockel tied for 54th after shooting 79 on Saturday.
Olivia Cason closed out the weekend in 61st overall, ending at 19-over par with an 80 in the final round.
Next up for the Cardinals is the Evans Derby Experience March 23-25 at the Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala.
