Four Hat Tricks Lead Louisville Past Cincinnati, 18-12

Chad, Hall, Marshall, and Scanlan finished with hat tricks for the Cardinals.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kayla Marshall and Shayla Scanlan each scored four goals to propel the University of Louisville lacrosse team to an 18-12 win over Cincinnati.

Winners of three of their last four games, the Cardinals move to 4-6 on the season, while Bearcats fall to 3-5.Â

"I thought our hard work was there, and for spurts of the game, we executed all over the field," said head coach Scott Teeter. 'We just have to work on our consistency."

Louisville opened the game on a 5-0 run in the first eight minutes. Scanlan scored just 40 seconds into the game to put the Cardinals on the board, followed by goals from Brenna Shanahan, Ally Hall, and two from Tessa Chad to build the lead.

Cincinnati responded with a four-goal run of their own to pull within one. After putting a stop to their run, the Cardinals carried a 9-5 lead into the break.

After the break, Marshall earned the hat trick with three straight goals to give Louisville a 13-5 lead.

The Cardinals took a 10-goal lead with 14 minutes remaining in the game, prompting a five-goal run by Cincinnati to pull within six. Louisville held a steady lead the rest of the way to take the win, 18-12.

Scanlan's four goals came on five shots, while adding a team-high two assists. Chad and Hall also finished with hat tricks for the Cardinals.

Rachel Florek earned her fourth win of the season and tallied a .500 save percentage. Alex McNicholas won a team-high six draw controls.
