Louisville Hosts No. 4 Syracuse on Sunday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville women's lacrosse hosts No. 4 Syracuse on Sunday at noon.

With three wins in their last four games, the Cardinals have improved their record to 4-6 on the season.

Their lone defeat during the four-game stretch is an 11-10 loss to No. 15 Duke in double overtime. They are outscoring opponents an impressive 66-41 in the last four games.

In the 18-12 win over Cincy, four Cardinals recorded hat tricks. Louisville was led by Kayla Marshall and Shayla Scanlan, who each netted four goals. Ally Hall and Tessa Chad tallied three goals in the victory, marking Chad's seventh hat trick of the season and fourth straight for the Cards.

Chad ranks fifth in the NCAA with 31 goals and has 19 goals in the last four games.

Louisville is seeking its first ACC win since defeating Syracuse 9-8 at UofL Lacrosse Stadium on April 22, 2017.

UofL is 4-2 against unranked teams and 0-4 against ranked teams.

ABOUT THE ORANGE

Syracuse (7-2, 1-1 ACC) enters 's Sunday's game as the fourth-ranked team in the country and boasts wins over four top-20 teams. Last time out, the Orange topped No. 16 Florida 14-13 after converting on a free position attempt with just eight seconds left in regulation.

Syracuse is scoring 14.9 goals per contest and is led by junior Emily Hawryschuk, who has tallied 30 goals and seven assists for 37 points. Senior attacker Nicole Levy has also been a strong offensive presence for the Orange, scoring 18 goals and adding 15 assists for 33 points through nine games.

In goal, junior Asa Goldstock had made 63 stops and holds a goals against average of 9.89.

The Orange were picked to finish fifth in the ACC Preseason Coaches poll, but are currently the third-ranked ACC team in the Inside Lacrosse Poll behind No. 1 Boston College and No. 3 North Carolina.

Hawryschuk and defender Kerry Defliese were voted to the Preseason All-ACC Team after earning All-ACC selections a year ago.

Series History - Syracuse leads Louisville 8-1 in the all-time series and is 3-1 against the Cards at UofL Lacrosse Stadium. In the last meeting, the Orange won 19-8 in Syracuse on April 22, 2018.
