UofL scores upset in win
The No. 21-ranked University of Louisville women's swimming and diving team took top honors in the SMU Classic after two days of racing.

Louisville racked up 333 points to edge No. 13 Auburn (331) followed by Northwestern (315), Iowa (242), Miami (230) and SMU (223).

The Classic features eight swimmers and one diver from each competing institution. Swimmers may swim three events per day, one of which must be a relay. Each team will enter one swimmer per heat (Consolation & Championship), while relays will only have a Championship heat. Diving events will consist of six optional dives on 1 meter and 3 meter boards.Â

To start the second day of competition off, the Cardinals touched second in the 200 medley relay. Â Ashlyn Schoof (25.36), Mariia Astashkina (27.42), Grace Oglesby (23.15) and Lainey Visscher (22.09) combined for the time of 1:38.02. The event was won by Northwestern's foursome, who posted a 1:37.93.

Arina Openysheva took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:48.96. Teammate Sophie Cattermole was seventh in 4:45.30. Both were NCAA B-cuts for the Cardinals. The event was won by Auburn's Emily Hetzer's 4:39.71.

Ashlyn Schoof earns third with a time of 1:58.04. Duda Sumida is ninth with a time of 1:59.32 in the 200 backstroke

Mariia Astashkina touched second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:11.80 for a B-cut, just behind Northwestern's Hannah Brunzell's 2:10.22. Diana Dunn was 8th in 2:14.92.

Molly Fears won silver with a score of 292.30 in 3M Diving she was narrowly defeated by Iowa's Samantha Tamborski's 302.

Arina Openysheva stopped the clock in 48.75 for second place in the 100 freestyle for a B-cut after being edged by Auburn's Claire Fisch's winning time of 48.41. Lainey Visscher touched 8th with a time of 49.86.

Grace Oglesby won the 200 butterfly with a 1:55.09, 4 seconds faster than the runnerup and good for a B-cut. Â Sophie Cattermole wins the B final in 1:58.76Â a B-cut time that would have scored second in the A-final.

In the 200 IM, Duda Sumida is with a time of 2:01.02. Meet MVP Calypso Sheridan put up the winning time of 1:56.57. UofL's Diana Dunn takes top honors in the B-final with a 2:00.48
