No. 7 Louisville Hosts No. 2 Duke in Top 10 ACC Opener

Kickoff for Cardinals and Blue Devils set for Sunday at 2 p.m., ET at Lynn Stadium
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The No. 7 Louisville men's soccer team opens its challenging Atlantic Coast Conference slate with a top 10 clash against No. 2 Duke on Sunday at 2 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The match will be televised on ACC Network Extra, while live stats will be available at GoCards.com.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville enters the match at 2-1-0 overall after suffering its first loss of the season on Tuesday night at Kentucky (3-0). Geoffrey Dee, Cherif Dieye and Kino Ryosuke have goals this season for the Cardinals, who are 2-1-1 all-time in ACC openers. Sophomores Jake Gelnovatch and Will Meyer have shared the goalkeeping duties this season with Meyer making two starts and Gelnovatch with one.
The Cardinals produced another successful season in 2017 reaching the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship for the fifth time in the last eight seasons, including the second straight year, and earning a No. 7 ranking in the final United Soccer Coaches Top 25. Louisville had a 13-2-5 record and was second in the ACC Atlantic with a 5-2-1 league mark.
Louisville ranked sixth in the nation in shutout percentage (.600) registering 12 shutouts in 20 matches in 2017 as Meyer and Gelnovatch shared the goalkeeping duties. Meyer earned seven of the 12 shutouts and was in goal for six wins, while Gelnovatch had five shutouts and earned seven victories. The Cardinals were 12th in the NCAA in goals against average (.661).
ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILS
Duke enters the match at 3-0-0 with victories against No. 20 FIU (3-1), Vermont (3-2, OT) and at San Diego (4-1). The Blue Devils were 13-4-3 overall in 2017, including a 4-3-1 mark in the ACC. Duke closed its 2017 season with an 8-7 loss in PKs against Fordham in the third round of the NCAA Championship.

Louisville leads 4-1-1 in the all-time series with Duke, which dates back to 1997. The Cardinals have won each of the three ACC matches between the programs, including the 1-0 victory last season in Durham. In the only previous meeting at Lynn Stadium, Louisville earned a 5-0 triumph in 2014 in the Cardinals' first ever ACC contest.

Louisville was among seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams in this year's preseason top 25, including five programs in the top 11.
