Comerford, Harting and Dahlia join Team USA
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a highly successful summer campaign at the Phillips 66 National Championships and the Pan Pacific Championships, three University of Louisville swimmers have been named to the 2018-19 USA Swimming National Team. Additionally, four UofL coaches were named National Team coaches for the 2018-19 season.
Â
The USA Swimming National Team roster is comprised of the top six swimmers in each of the individual Olympic events. Current UofL seniors Mallory Comerford and Zach Harting and Louisville graduate Kelsi Dahlia qualified to the 111-member team. UofL head coach Arthur Albiero and assistant coaches Stephanie Juncker, Vlad Polyakov, and Chris Lindauer will serve as coaches on the National Team.
Â
Comerford qualified to the team in the 50-meter free, 100-meter free and 100-meter fly. She is currently the second-fastest American woman in the 100-meter free (52.94) behind reigning Olympic champion Simone Manuel and will compete in the event at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.
Â
After a breakout summer both domestically and internationally, Harting earned a spot on the National Team in both the 100-meter and 200-meter butterfly. He won a bronze medal in the 200 distance in a time of 1:55.05 at the Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo, Japan and secured his spot on the 2019 World Championships team.
Â
Capturing a spot on her fourth consecutive USA Swimming National Team, Dahlia qualified in the 100 free and is the top-ranked United States swimmer in the 100-meter fly (56.44). She will also join Comerford and Harting at the 2019 World Championships, competing in the 50-meter and 100-meter fly.
