Cardinals Host Notre Dame and Syracuse to Open the Home ACC Slate

Louisville will host the Irish and Orange at Lynn Stadium to open ACC play at home
Whitsett leads Louisville with seven goals and one assist for 15 points. Junior Brooklynn Rivers is not far behind with five goals and four assists for 14 points. Rivers and junior Allison Whitfield lead the team with four assists.Â
In goal, redshirt sophomore Gabby Kouzelos has started all five contests for Louisville, recording seven saves and a goals against average of 0.76. Senior Gabrielle Vincent anchors the Cardinals' defense at centerback.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 19th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to four NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
 SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
Notre Dame will be playing its ACC opener against the Cardinals, after an extended break due to Hurricane Florence. The Irish enter the match with an overall record of 4-4. The Irish were ranked as high as No. 14 before falling out of the polls recently. In their last two games, Notre Dame fell to No. 1 Standford 3-1 and No. 12 Santa Clara 3-2.Â
The Irish have a balanced offense. Notre Dame has scored 12 goals this season with eight different players recording a goal. Jennifer Westendorf, Karin Muya, Olivia Wingate and Eva Hurm lead the way with two goals apiece. Brooke Littman leads the Irish in goal this season. She has started five matches and owns a 1.60 goals against average.Â
Head coach Nate Norman is in his first season at Notre Dame.              Â
SERIES HISTORY
Notre Dame leads the series with Louisville 11-3-0. The Irish have won three straight against the Cardinals since joining the ACC. Louisville swept the Irish during the 2011 season when both teams were in the Big East.     Â
SCOUTING SYRACUSE
Syracuse enters the weekend looking to snap a four-game losing streak. The Orange fell to No. 13 Duke 4-0 in the conference opener on Sunday. Sophomore goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx started in net and made a season-high eight saves. Syracuse will face Boston College on Thursday before facing the Cards on Sunday.Â
Kate Hostage leads the Orange with four goals on the year, which is tied for ninth in the league. Jordan Harris has been the main goalkeeper for SU, starting seven matches and playing 475:30 minutes, allowing seven goals while making 24 saves. Proulx made her first start in the last match and has 26 saves on the year.Â
Head coach Phil Weddon is in his 11th season with the Orange.         Â
