Women's Lacrosse Faces No. 2 Boston College in ACC Tournament Opener
April 24, 2018 | Women's Lacrosse
The Cardinals and Eagles will square off at 11 a.m. ET. on Thursday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's lacrosse (6-10, 0-7) opens ACC Tournament play in Durham, N.C. against No. 1 seed Boston College (17-0, 7-0) on Thursday at 11 a.m. ET.
The Cardinals are winless in their last seven games, but are excited for the start of postseason play.
"We're excited to start the second season. We've said it all year that we need to be playing our best lacrosse towards the end of the season and now the first season is over," said head coach Scott Teeter. "We've drawn Boston College, who is No. 1 in the nation, but I think we match up pretty well against them."
In mid-March, Louisville fell 19-10 to Boston College at home, but led the Eagles 5-3 at halftime.
"That first half against Boston College gives us some confidence that we can play with them," added Teeter. "They made some adjustments in the second half and were able to get the win, but it was an entertaining lacrosse game."
Louisville seeks its first ever ACC Tournament win on Thursday after falling in the first round the last three seasons. Jillian Balog, Madison Hoover and Emily Howell will be looked upon to lead the way as they are the only three active players with ACC Tournament experience.
"We have to have our seniors step up for us this week," said Teeter. "They've been to the NCAA Tournament, they've been to the ACC Tournament, so we need to rely on their experience. We need them all to really bring their A-game and play together."
