Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg Break Into National Rankings

Cardinals' No. 1 pair enter ITA rankings
In the newest Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Tennis Rankings, the University of Louisville's No. 1 pair of Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg have entered at No. 51. The senior pair entered the rankings following last Friday's 6-4 upset win over Virginia's seventh-ranked pair of Meghan Kelley and Rosie Johanson.

Pahz and Humberg have been dominant throughout the 2017-18 season, compiling a 23-2 record, including a 12-0 mark in the dual season. Dating back to the fall exhibition season, the duo has prevailed in 16 consecutive matches. The pair last fell in an 8-6 quarterfinal contest against Vanderbilt's Emily Smith and Emma Kurtz in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship on Oct. 14.

Pahz and Humberg are the first Louisville pair to be ranked since teammates Sena Suswam and Ariana Rodriguez reached No. 54 on Jan. 5, 2016. The highest pair ranking in recent program history came in the 2013-14 season, when Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine sat at No. 2 on Jan. 2, 2014.

The Cardinals return to the road for a pair of ACC matches this weekend as they face Boston College on Friday, March 23 at 2 p.m., followed by Syracuse on Sunday, March 25 at 11 a.m. Pahz and Humberg will enter this weekend with a 4-0 record in ACC competition.
