
Cardinals Qualify in Five Finals Events

Louisville will have three swims in tonight's A finals.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Louisville women's swimming and diving team qualified to finals in five events on the third morning of competition at the Women's NCAA Championships. Three of the Cardinals' five events will be swum in the A-final, highlighted by top-qualifier Mallory Comerford in the 200 free.
First up for the Cards was Rachael Bradford-Feldman, who placed 26th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:11.56.
Grace Oglesby charged into the wall to win her heat in the 100 fly with a 51.07. The sophomore earned the Cardinals their first individual A final swim, qualifying fourth overall heading into tonight's finals.
Defending 200 free national co-champion Mallory Comerford led her heat from wire-to-wire to qualify first heading into tonight's A final, finishing over a second ahead of the field with a 1:41.61. Sophie Cattermole also competed in the event for the Cards, dropping from her seed time and placing 21st in a time of 1:44.98.
Four Cardinals competed in the 100 breast, led by Mariia Astashkina, who qualified for the B final in 12th with a personal best time of 59.66. Morgan Friesen tied for 38th with a 1:00.90, while Lauren James and Avery Braunecker posted times of 1:01.66 and 1:02.72 respectively.
Alina Kendzior continued the Cards' streak of finals qualifiers, finishing 12th in the 100 back and breaking her own school record with a time of 51.76. Ashlyn Schoof posted a 53.14 in the event to place 33rd, and Lainey Visscher finished just behind with a time of 53.57.
The 200 medley relay team of Alina Kendzior (24.23), Mariia Astashkina (27.50), Grace Oglesby (23.37), and Casey Fanz (21.91) combined for a time of 1:37.01 to qualify a third consecutive Louisville relay to the A final, placing seventh overall.
In the 3-meter dive, Molly Fears placed 20th with a score of 309.95, moving up 14 spots from her 34th place finish at last year's NCAA Championships.
Due to tonight's ESPNU's broadcast of the NCAA Championships, the finals will begin at 5 p.m.
