
Blalock Records Hat Trick, but Women's Lacrosse Falls at Duke

Caroline Blalock finished with a hat trick for the fifth straight game.
Durham, N.C. - Freshman Caroline Blalock finished with a hat trick, but it wasn't enough as Louisville women's lacrosse fell 21-12 at Duke on Saturday afternoon.
The loss marked the Cards' first road defeat of the season and they move to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in ACC play.
Duke opened the game with four goals in the first two minutes and Louisville played from behind the rest of the way.
The Cardinals struggled to maintain possession throughout the first half as the Blue Devils won draw controls in the first stanza, 19-2. Duke's Olivia Jenner had 15 draw controls in the first half alone, which set a career high.
After trailing 20-6 with under 18 minutes to go, Louisville outscored the Blue Devils 6-1 the rest of the way and reeled off six straight goals.
Blalock continues to shine for the Cardinals as she had three of the Cards' five goals in the first half for her fifth consecutive hat trick. She finished with four goals, an assist and two ground balls.
Julia Wood, Tessa Chad and Madison Hoover added two goals each for Louisville.
Lexie Ball finished with nine saves, but the Blue Devils outshot the Cardinals 40-28, including 33-10 in the first half.
Louisville returns to action on Wednesday, March 14 when they travel to play Mercer at 3 p.m. ET.
