LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's golf team is making its second trip to the Sunshine State to continue its spring season, competing at the Moon Golf Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Melbourne, Fla.
The Cardinals open play at the Duran Golf Club, a par 72, 6,309-yard course, as part of a 13-team field on Monday, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Teams will play 36 holes continuously and then wrap up the tournament on Tuesday, with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
The Cardinals, who are serving as hosts of the tournament, will utilize a lineup of Lauren Hartlage, Molly Skapik, Olivia Cason, Kristin Engle, and Jacqueline Twitty, while Linda Trockel competes individually. Louisville is paired with Furman and Michigan on Monday.
Louisville is coming off its third-consecutive top-three team finish, placing third at the Florida Challenge in late January. The Cardinals, who defeated Kentucky in the event for the Battle of the Bluegrass State title, shot a two-round score of 12-over 588.
Collectively, the Cardinals have two tournament titles and own a remarkable 4-over-par 291.69 average. Notably, the Cardinals have logged rounds even or below par five times this season.
Lauren Hartlage, who tied for sixth at the competition in Florida, is pacing the Cardinals with a 71.69 stroke average. She has four top-10 finishes this season, shooting 11 rounds even or below par.
Molly Skapik is tied with Hartlage for most top-10 showings, while ranking second in stroke average at 72.88. The senior is putting together one of her best seasons, which includes nine rounds even or below par.
Olivia Cason also placed in the top 10 at the Florida Challenge, taking eighth for her second-top 10 finish this season. She is averaging a 2-over-par 74.38.
