Albiero had three individual and three relay wins in the meet with ACC Rival Virginia

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville sophomore Nicolas Albiero has been selected as the ACC Swimmer of the Week, which was announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference office.

Albiero was instrumental in the No. 13 Cardinals' 214-139 victory over No. 16 Virginia over the weekend. The Louisville native won all three of his individual events and was a member of three first place relay teams, leading the Cards to their second straight victory over a ranked opponent.

In addition to his victories, Albiero earned a pair of NCAA B cuts. He led off the Cardinals' 400 medley relay with a B cut time of 47.74 in the 100 back, powering Louisville to the No. 2 time in the nation. In the 200 fly, Albiero posted a B cut time of 1:46.57, which is the 10th fastest time in the nation.

Albiero also posted a dominant win in the 200 back, stopping the clock in a time of 1:45.11, the fifth-fastest time in the NCAA.

This marks the first ACC weekly honor of Albiero's career.
