LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three University of Louisville swimmers have been selected to represent the United States at the 2018 FINA World Championships (25m) in Hangzhou, China from Dec. 11-16. National Team members Mallory Comerford, Kelsi Dahlia and Zach Harting will compete for Team USA, while Louisville assistant and National Team coach Stephanie Juncker will serve as an assistant coach for the U.S. women.
Swimming in her second consecutive Short Court World Championships, Comerford collected two golds (4x100-meter medley relay/4x100-meter free relay) and a silver (4x200-meter free relay) for Team USA in 2016. The senior from Kalamazoo, Mich. was named to this year's World Championships for the 50-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter free as a result of her strong performances at the Phillips 66 National Championships and Pan Pacific Championships this past summer.
Dahlia will also compete in her second straight Short Course World Championships after winning four relay golds and three individual silvers in the butterfly events in 2016. She will represent Team USA in the 50-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter fly and is the current American record holder in all three events. Additionally, Dahlia owns two relay world records as a member of the United States' 4x50-meter and 4x100-meter medley relays.
After scoring a bronze medal in the 200 fly at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships, Harting will compete in his first Short Course World Championships for Team USA. The senior also earned a silver medal in his signature event at the Phillips 66 National Championships and will swim the 200 fly in Hangzhou.
All three Cardinals will also represent the United States at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.
Juncker was named a United States National Team Coach for the second straight year and has been instrumental in developing the Cardinals into one of top programs in the nation. She will coach the U.S. women alongside head coach Brian Smith and fellow assistant Cory Chitwood.
NBC will provide live coverage of each day of the event via the Olympic Channel from 7-9 a.m. EST. Coach Stephanie Juncker celebrates at the 2018 Women's NCAA Championships.
