October 28, 2018 | Women's Golf
Lauren Hartlage finished in second place overall at one-under.
ATLANTA, Ga. – Lauren Hartlage, Mairead Martin, Delaney Shah and Olivia Cason all finished in the top 13 as the University of Louisville women's golf team concluded fall play with a one-stroke victory at the Alexa Stirling Women's Intercollegiate Invitational on Sunday.
Â
The Cardinals recorded the win after shooting 18-over for the tournament. They opened with a two-under 286 in the first round and followed with ten-over 298's in the second and third rounds to hang on by one stroke over Auburn.
The win marks Louisville's first team victory since they took home the title at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic last March.
"It was a great team win! After being disappointed with our performance last week, this is a great comeback," said head coach Courtney Trimble. "We were really able to perform on a true championship course. I could not be more proud of this team and the fight they displayed this week."
Â
Hartlage opened the tournament with the lead after shooting 66 on Friday and finished in second place. She closed the tournament with a two-over 74 on Sunday to finish at one-under, three strokes back of Virginia Tech's Keera Foocharoen, the individual champion.
