No. 22 Cardinals Set to Host Boston College and Syracuse

UofL faces BC at 7 p.m. on Friday and SU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The University of Louisville volleyball team returns home this weekend for a pair of conference tilts against Boston College and Syracuse. The Cardinals will take on Boston College Friday night at 7 p.m. and will host Syracuse on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Cardinal Arena.

The 21st-ranked Cards currently sit at 16-5 overall, owning a mark of 9-1 in ACC play. Last week, UofL survived against a scrappy Virginia squad on Friday night, pulling out a 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 25-19, 18-25, 15-2) victory before dropping their first conference match of the season, a tough 3-1 (22-25, 24-26, 28-26, 20-25) decision on Sunday to undefeated, 6th-ranked Pittsburgh.

Offensively, Melanie McHenry continues to lead the Cards in kills, having racked up 276 on the season while Wilma Rivera has accumulated a team-high 848 assists. On the defensive side, freshman Emily Scott continues to make her mark in her first year for the Cards, leading the team with a total of 66 blocks while Senior Molly Sauer continues to add to her UofL legacy in her final year, leading the Cards with 334 digs.

The Eagles of BC come into Cardinal Arena with a mark of 13-9 overall, and an ACC record of 3-7. The Eagles are coming off the back end of a 4-game homestand, which included a 3-1 (21-25, 16-25, 25-21, 19-25) loss to NC State on Friday, and a 3-0 (27-25, 25-12, 25-19) sweep of North Carolina. The Eagles are led offensively by Cat Balido, who has 205 kills on the season while defensively, Ally Mullen leads the team in blocks with 73, and Makenzie Morrison has recorded a team high 316 digs.

Syracuse
The Orange enter the weekend at 12-6 overall, with an ACC mark of 8-2. Syracuse is also coming off of the latter half of a 4-game homestand, having secured a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-22) sweep of North Carolina, as well as a 3-1 (25-9, 22-25, 25-20, 25-23) win over NC State. Offensively, Syracuse is led by Polina Shemanova, who has accumulated 329 kills on the season. On defense, Shemanova also leads the team in digs, with 192 on the year while Amber Witherspoon and Santita Ebangwese lead the team in blocks with 98 and 96, respectively.
