Bio
2017: Molly was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year and made the All-ACC Second Team as a junior. She played in every set of every match at libero and amassed 471 digs and 27 service aces. She was named to the US Collegiate National Team last summer and competed in China. She had double digit digs in all but three matches with a high of 36 against Notre Dame (9/22). She notched five aces at Boston College (11/22) and had 143 assists with the season high of 10 versus Notre Dame. She was named to the All-UNLV Challenge team and was a preseason All-ACC pick. Outstanding in the classroom, Sauer was named Academic All-ACC, Red and Black Scholar, as well as the ACC Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
2016: During her sophomore campaign, Molly was named to the AVCA Honorable Mention East Region team. She was also named to the All-ACC Second Team. Sauer was also named to the All-Active Ankle Challenge Team after collecting 59 digs, 13 assists, and five aces during the tournament. She set a new career-high in digs with 38 when Louisville faced Notre Dame at home. She tied a career-high in aces with four against Florida State on Sept. 25. Molly ended the year with a team-high in digs with 492, achieving 20 or more digs in a game eight times, and finished the season averaging 4.39 digs per set.

2015: Molly was named to the AVCA First Team All-East Region. She became the first player in ACC Volleyball history to earn both Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors in the same season as well as being named to the All-Freshman team. The Cardinals ranked 2nd in the ACC in digs behind her defensive leadership and helped Louisville clinch a share of the 2015 ACC title. Sauer also earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors twice. Once for the Miami/Florida State swing where she finished with 44 digs (25 against UM and 19 against FSU) and committed just one receiving error while being served 51 times. Sauer also recorded 6 assists and 3 service aces. The other ACC Freshman of the Week honor came when she was named to the All-Active Ankle Challenge after helping Louisville post a 3-0 record. She had 61 digs, including 30 digs in UofL's win over Ohio and 31 total digs in two 3-set wins over Utah and Seton Hall. She also recorded 9 aces and 7 assists. She ended the year with a team-high 29 aces, and 533 digs. Molly was a member of the ACC Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Â

Prep:Â Louisville native and USA Today All-USA High School Preseason 1st team selection, Molly Sauer, joined the Cardinals from Assumption High School where she was a member of the two-time KHSAA State championship team under head coach Ron Kordes. At Assumption, the three-time team captain was also a two-time KHSAA Regions champion and three-time KHSAA District champion. The libero was a member of the KHSAA All-Region Team in 2013. Her team also was the 2014 Durango Fall Classic Champions and Molly was named to the All-Tournament team. She was named as PrepVolleyball's No. 25 Senior Ace. In international competition, Sauer was a member of the 2013 Girls Youth National Team that won the USA Volleyball Team of the Year and was a silver medalist in the 2013 FIVB World Championships. She was a member of the 2014 USA Women's Junior National Team that won the gold medal at the 2014 USA NORCECA Championships. As a club volleyball player for KIVA, Sauer was an AAU All-American in 2012 and was an AAU National Champion and JVDA National Champion in 2011. She was named to the Under Armour All-American second team. She was a member of the 2015 Women's Junior National Team that represented the United States at the Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia.
